Description
Our aim is to craft a well-flavoured, beautifully balanced Cabernet Malbec that highlights the strengths of these classic varieties in our cool southern climate. Cabernet provides structure and depth, while Malbec brings its vibrant, juicy fruit to the blend.
All fruit was sourced from Frankland River—renowned for producing outstanding red varieties thanks to its reliably warm days, cool nights and low disease pressure. Once crushed and fermenting, the must received regular pump-overs for excellent colour and flavour extraction. After pressing, the Cabernet component was matured for 18 months in a mix of new and seasoned French oak, while the Malbec was kept mostly in tank with new oak staves to preserve its bright fruit expression. Each batch was then carefully assessed before blending and bottling.
COLOUR
A very deep, dense crimson.
AROMA
Rich red and black berry fruits typical of both Cabernet and Malbec. There’s an appealing hint of pomegranate molasses along with subtle spicy oak notes that add complexity.
PALATE
A generously flavoured wine showing delicious, bright red berry fruit. The palate is fresh and vibrant, with characters reminiscent of freeze-dried raspberries and a gentle spiciness—almost like raspberry liquorice. Malbec contributes its juicy, supple fruit while Cabernet provides structure and line. Tannins are fine, well integrated and consistent across the palate, giving the wine excellent balance and a pleasingly dry finish. Enjoyable now yet structured enough to reward further cellaring.
