Description
Badged ‘Great Southern’, most of this Pinot was sourced from Mt Barker vineyards. Some of the parcels of fruit were from relatively young vines; they tend to have more delicate fruit characters so they are particularly well suited to this lighter, more approachable style of wine. The fruit from the older vines contributes more colour, palate weight and richness.
COLOUR
A bright, ruby red of moderate depth.
AROMA
Has generous aromas of red fruits, particularly cranberry and pomegranate along with some smoky, red cherry characters and a tiny hint of potpourri. These attractive aromas are complexed by several months maturation in French oak.
PALATE
This is an attractive, medium bodied Pinot with a lovely silkiness and gentle mouth feel. It is bright and fresh with the typical Pinot fruit flavours of dark cherry, red plum and those cranberry/ pomegranate characters. It’s quite vibrant, with good complexity and palate weight and, with its fine, gentle tannins, it has a lovely light dry finish.
A lighter style of Pinot Noir, this can be enjoyed now with many foods;
it will also handle an extra year or two in the bottle.
Serve lightly chilled on a warm day.
