Badged ‘Great Southern’, most of this Pinot was sourced from Mt Barker vineyards with the balance from our Porongurup property. Some of the parcels of fruit were from relatively young vines; they tend to have more delicate fruit characters so they are particularly well suited to this lighter, more approachable style of wine. Our Porongurup vines are now over 20 years old so they contribute more colour, palate weight and richness.
A bright, crimsony red with a slight purple hue.
Lovely lifted fruit aromas of cranberry, pomegranate and dense smoky plums with these characters complexed by several months’ maturation in French oak.
"This is an attractive, medium bodied Pinot with particularly good texture and a good, rich, creamy mouth feel. It has attractive fruit flavours of pomegranate and raspberry with some smoky plum and sweet tamarillo characters. These fruit flavours are balanced by the super fine tannins which give the wine its good palate length. A lighter style of Pinot Noir, this can be enjoyed now with any type of food while it will also handle an extra year or two in the bottle and develop further complexity. Serve lightly chilled on a warm day."
