Description
Our ‘Home Block’ Pinot Noir is a barrel selection of the best Pinot from our Porongurup vineyard, 30kms east of Mt Barker & 40kms north of Albany in the cool, Great Southern region of Western Australia. With these vines now 30+ years old, they have the maturity for producing our Home Block Pinot Noir most seasons.
COLOUR
Medium depth of garnet red.
AROMA
Beautifully aromatic wild thyme, lavender and berry bramble with savoury dark cherry and a hint of black forest chocolate adding complexity.
PALATE
Fresh and vibrant mulberry jam and wild cherry glaze gives an elegant structure with a plush flavoursome mouthfeel and glossy texture. 40% new French oak, 60% seasoned to moderate the influence of the oak. Its delicate fruit flavours are well integrated, and a silky mid-palate weight makes it approachable now, with that fine tannin structure ensuring further ageing potential.
CELLARING POTENTIAL
Typically, ‘Porongurup’ in style, it has fineness and subtlety with texture and palate weight rather than just simple fruit flavours. Gentle acidity and fine tannins provide length of flavour and will continue to develop with further cellaring.
